Perigee

Closest point to Earth in a satellite or lunar orbit.

Definition

Perigee (Greek geo, Earth) is the lowest point in an orbit around Earth. The Moon at perigee can appear up to 14% larger in angular diameter than at apogee — the so-called supermoon when full phase coincides.

Earth–Moon distance varies; perigee is the minimum geocentric distance.
