Ecliptic Coordinates

Longitude and latitude measured along and from the ecliptic.

Definition

Ecliptic longitude λ is measured eastward along the ecliptic from the vernal equinox (0°–360°). Ecliptic latitude β is measured perpendicular to the ecliptic, positive northward. Planetary orbits have small β because the system is nearly coplanar.
